Recognize Illegitimate ‘Natural’ labels, and other food label lies
Every time you enter your grocery store, you’re faced with tons of food options including GMO-free versions of, well, everything.
Common household stapes like cereals and soups now come GMO-free. Even foods that can’t be genetically engineered to begin with, such as salt, are being pushed as GMO-free for inexplicable reasons.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in the long list of illegitimate food labels misleading consumers, from ‘gluten-free’ alternatives to healthy ‘organic’ products. Even better, they’re often marked up, despite the insufficient studies proving their health benefits.
Equally concerning is the fact some of the labels can be stuck onto packaging with little to no regulation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
